Colorado Truck Accident Attorneys
Commercial carriers, including truck drivers, are often the cause of motor vehicle accidents. Unlike the normal motor vehicle accident that occurs between two individual drivers, truck accidents require experience, skill and knowledge to handle. Investigators are often employed to take photographs of the commercial vehicle at a tow yard. Engineers can be employed to go through the truck’s operating system to see if there was a failure with the brakes or other operating system. Black boxes can be located and preserved in order to get insight into what was occurring at the time of the accident. Then there are the commercial insurance policies.
Jim Fahrenholtz and Jesse Wiens have settled claims brought by the victims of truck accidents and accidents with commercial carriers. One such accident involved a concrete pump truck that veered into oncoming traffic on a two-lane highway in rural Colorado, killing the sole occupant of the vehicle being driven in the opposite direction, also a commercial vehicle. Engineers were employed to go through the concrete pump truck, photographs were taken at the tow yard. The commercial insurance policies on both commercial vehicles came into play, and a settlement was reached on behalf of the decedent’s surviving wife and child.
In another accident outside of Meeker, Colorado, a retired couple on their way home from a funeral were struck when a commercial truck pulling a commercial trailer lost control and struck the retired couple’s vehicle. Three commercial insurance policies were involved, and a settlement was reached to cover half of a million dollars in medical bills (economic damages), in addition to pain and suffering (noneconomic damages).
